We are delighted to launch Skye Fine Wines with a special price for a pair of wines which capture the essence of Burgundy wines: a rich and aromatic white from Puligny-Montrachet made by the long-established Carillon family, and a beguiling red from the legendary village of Gevrey-Chambertin.
The white: Bourgogne Blanc 2016 F Carillon
The wine-making Carillon family goes back centuries in Puligny-Montrachet and this is an enormously polished introduction to white burgundy. This Bourgogne Blanc blends grapes from the old family holdings in Puligny, Chassagne (next door) and St Aubin (next door to both) – it is to all intents and purposes a baby Puligny-Montrachet!
The red: Bourgogne Rouge Roncevie 2016 (Arlaud)
An absolute gem and an absolute steal! The insider’s choice, as this comes from a vineyard only denied status as one of the top ranked Gevrey-Chambertin village plots because of local politics in the ‘60’s when the vines were inherited by someone who dared to live in the next village! It means we have a wine with all the taste of a classic Gevrey-Chambertin, but without the price tag. It is what the wine merchants drink…..
