Bourgogne Blanc, Francois Carillon, 2016
£39.00
There is a little wee road out of Puligny-Montrachet that runs up into the vineyards and then takes a sharp left at the point where the grand cru vineyards of Montrachet and Batard-Montrachet nestle up against the premier crus of Les Demoiselles and Les Pucelles, perhaps the most wonderful sharp left turn in all viniculture. Just at the intersection is an old stone cross named in honour of one Anne Carillon and dated 1806. So in a world where family pedigree and handed-down knowledge do mean something, a Carillon wine means something very special. This Bourgogne Blanc blends grapes from the old family holdings in Puligny, Chassagne (next door) and St Aubin (next door to both).
